First Day of Spring ...

The three real Two-Lips sit proudly in a pretty vase on the mantelpiece to inspire me. The quilt Two-Lips are patiently waiting for my embroidery needle to get on with it. I am doing a running stitch by hand around the shapes and then continuing the stitches out to see where they lead me. This type of stitching is inspired by the Bengali form of Kantha embroidery. I am using variegated hand-dyed cotton threads from Artfabrik to work these stitches! I have just placed an order for some more colors so that when I get to the yellow sky area at the top of the quilt, I can wail away with some luscious threads named Sunflower!
